Photo of the Week | Bubble Portrait

As you may have noticed around here, one of my business goals for 2014 is to blog more.  And thanks to my new website and blog host, blogging is so much easier and even dare-I-say enjoyable.  Last Friday, I hosted my first ever giveaway, which was fun and new and exciting.  Thank you to those who entered, and supported, whether through the blog post or Instagram.  Another new thing that I would like to add to the blog is a photo of the week post.  There are so many great parts to my job, and editing and revealing the end result is one of them.  Sometimes I get so backed up that photos go unshared as time marches on.  There have been so many times that I have been editing and it just feels wrong not to share a photo.  It's almost like I am keeping a big secret (and to be honest, while keeping a secret is possible for me, it is not one of my strengths and I just hate it!).  So, my new endeavor is sharing a favorite photo of the week with you on the blog.  I can't promise that this will be every week, but I will try to share them as often as possible. First up, I give you this precious little girl chasing bubbles at the end of her family's portrait session.  I may just have to invest in some bubbles for all my little clients.  Kudos to her awesome mom for having these handy!

Atlanta Fashion Photographer | Snow & Fur

If you have been watching the news at all, you know that Atlanta has been in a snowjam of sorts.  Well, thankfully I went to the grocery store before the snow started to fall and thankfully we made it back home safe and sound despite the horrid traffic.  So, what do you do on a snow day when you are home and have some free time? You take pretty snow portraits of course! I have been wanting to take snow pictures for some time now, and finally had the opportunity and the perfect model.  What is prettier than vintage fur in the snow?

By the Sea | Personal

“I spent uncounted hours sitting at the bow looking at the water and the sky, studying each wave, different from the last, seeing how it caught the light, the air, the wind; watching patterns, the sweep of it all, and letting it take me.
The sea.”
― Gary Paulsen, Caught by the Sea

Athens Engagement Photographer | Anna Lynn and Raleigh

I spent Sunday afternoon in Athens with the cutest and sweetest couple ever, Anna Lynn and Raleigh.  You may remember them from the proposal that I captured back in November.  I loved shooting their engagement photos and being able to capture their happiness and the love that my sister and future brother-in-law have for each other.  To say it was an honor is an understatement.  We started at Hall Street, where they met in college, because yes, they lived down the street from each other (!!!).   They walked down the street towards Raleigh's old house holding hands, remembering that that very location was where they first ever held hands.  I know, cuteness overload.  Then, we headed downtown for a little coffee and exploration of our favorite small town downtown.   We also ventured over to the beautiful Founders Memorial Garden, before ending the session in a gorgeous sun drenched field.  It was such a fun afternoon and session -  now, bring on the wedding!

Skyline Photo Adventure | Personal

One of the many things I love about living in a big city is having a pretty skyline.  I have wanted to go on a photo adventure and capture different views of the city for a while now.  After many gray and nasty winter days, the sun finally came out a few Sundays ago and I immediately started thinking about the photos that I wanted to take.  I even convinced my sweet husband to be my side kick for the afternoon and take some new headshots for me.  We had so much fun driving around looking for the best spots to view our city.  We ended up on the historic Jackson Street Bridge just in time for the beautiful sunset.  As golden hour began, photographers of all ages ventured to the bridge and got ready to capture sunset.  It was a neat feeling to look around and see all different sorts of people trying to capture the beauty of the sunset over Atlanta.  Below are my favorite shots from our skyline photo adventure.
